quality cubic zirconia cannot be discerned from diamond with the naked eye. If you use a 10x jeweler's loupe, you shouldn't be able to see any flaws in a cubic zircona. They are perfectly clean whereas most diamonds contain flaws.
cubic zirconia is flashes more colour than diamond. Cubic zircona's have less 'white' flashes of light (brilliance) and more 'coloured' flashes of light (fire) than a diamond.
